What Life Launch is

Life Launch is a six-month, one-on-one coaching program for young adults, roughly 18 to 30, who are stuck. Home longer than anyone planned. Off track at college, or out of it. Working a job that isn't going anywhere, or not working. Usually bright, often diagnosed with ADHD, autism, anxiety, or some combination, and carrying a lot of shame about the gap between what they can do and what's getting done.

The program is structured, because drifting is the problem and structure is the answer: thirty 45-minute coaching sessions, four 30-minute consultations with parents or the professionals already involved, and a plan that covers five areas of adult life: academic, personal, mental health, relationships, and money. The young adult sets the goals. The coach makes sure they happen.

A typical week

A set time each week for a 45-minute video session. Every session reviews the short-term goals set the week before, honestly and without the drama, and sets the next ones: the doctor's appointment finally booked, the three job applications, the registration for the class, the budget actually looked at. Once a month the long-term goals come out for review, so the weekly steps stay pointed somewhere.

Between sessions the coach is reachable through the portal. Parents are involved by design, through the consultations and with the young adult's knowledge, because the goal for parents is a real one too: to stop managing and worrying, and start enjoying their adult kid.

What changes

Independence, in specific pieces you can point to. The goals look like a degree finished or restarted, a job found and kept, a therapist found and actually seen, a bank account that gets looked at. Dr. Russell's standard for the program is "significant and substantial goal attainment in the chosen areas of focus," and that is the standard we hold ourselves to.

The larger change is harder to measure and easier to see: a young adult who trusts themselves to follow through, and a family that has stopped bracing.
