The team behind the practice

Our certified coaches — trained by Dr. Russell, in-house.

Every coach in our practice has at least 8-10 years of experience working directly with students. They come from education, counseling, mental health, or positive youth development — but the common thread is the same: a passion for kids who think a little differently.

Once they're with us, we put them through customized, intensive training — coaching practice, executive functioning theory, ADHD, autism, anxiety, learning differences. Every coach is trained one-on-one by Dr. Russell and mentored and supervised by her directly throughout their time on the team.

Most hold master's or advanced degrees. All bring real expertise. None of them work from a script.

The question every parent asks

"How do you match my student to a coach?"

You won't find a wall of coach profiles here, and that's deliberate. Choosing a coach from a bio and a headshot is guesswork, the things that actually make a match work (how a coach reads a kid who shuts down, who clicks with an anxious perfectionist, who can hold a defiant teen without a power struggle) don't show up in a paragraph.

So we don't ask you to guess. We match every student personally, after we've actually seen the whole picture. It is one of the most important things we do, and it is the part families tell us they didn't know they needed.

01
Step 01

The complimentary call.

— no commitment, no pressure.

A 30-minute call with Dr. Russell to see whether Russell Coaching is the right fit for your student. You ask anything, we get a first sense of what's going on. Nothing is decided here, it's just the front door.

02
Step 02

The intake, with an Intake Specialist.

— we see the whole child first.

Before coaching begins you upload your student's records, recent report cards, psychoeducational evaluations, IEP or 504, school testing, and one of our Intake Specialists reviews all of it. Then a 90-minute intake with that specialist to understand the rest: the history, the family context, the learning profile, what's actually getting in the way, the schedule and time zone. Matching is never done off a form, it's done off the full picture.

03
Step 03

We match your student.

— this is the expertise.

We match your student based on their needs, interests, and personality. Everything we learn at intake, we personally use to choose the right coach, the right fit for the specific challenges, the temperament, the age, the neurotype, the way this particular kid needs to be met. Not the next available name, not whoever you'd have picked from a grid. The right one.

04
Step 04

Coaching begins, and the match holds.

— a real relationship, over time.

The first weeks follow a deliberate arc, building trust, getting to know your student as a learner, then building the executive-functioning skills and the weekly routine. We aim for a stable, long-term coach-student relationship. And if it ever isn't the right fit, we rematch, no awkwardness. Fit is everything, we don't pretend it's working when it isn't.

Matching is our job, not yours.

Start with the call. Tell us about your student. We take it from there.
